Ever wonder how you can provide practical help to children in our local community? If so, we have a great opportunity for you! As you have heard already, we will be partnering with Royal Family KIDS Camp this summer to give foster children ages 6 -12 a week of positive memories and royal treatment in a Christian camp environment. Since nearly all participants have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect, this special event offers them the opportunity to receive attention and encouragement, have fun, and enjoy just being a kid.
Unfortunately, many participants show up to camp with no more than a trash bag containing a few clothes and wearing a pair of flip-flops or worn out shoes. This is where you can be of help. We want all the children taking part in this special program to have a decent pair of shoes that they can enjoy at camp and take with them when it’s over!
You can help us put new shoes on a child’s feet! Here’s how: go to the Outreach table, select the shoe(s) that you want to provide, shop for them (online or at a local retail store), then bring them back to the collection box on the patio. It’s that simple!
Collection dates: Every Sunday beginning June 16 – July 14! The camp, which we support in partnership with Rock Harbor and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, will be held in San Diego County July 28 – August 2.
Called to be a camp counselor? We really need more adult counselors, especially men. There is still time to sign up if you’re interested — the first training session is June 21!
