Think of a time when someone displayed great love to you. What did they do? How did you feel? Was your heart filled with gratitude? And in turn, were you encouraged to display that same love to them and those around you?
In Romans 5:8, Paul states that “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Out of God’s great love for us, He sent His one and only Son to die on the cross for our sins. And because of that sacrifice, we can now live a life full of grace and freedom. We didn’t have to work hard or complete an assignment to earn that gift. He freely gave that to us through this ultimate sacrifice…because He loves us! And because of that sacrificial love He shows us, this is the very reason why we live our lives for Him. This is the reason we live to glorify, worship, and praise Him, and also share that love that He showed us with others.
In the same way, we can follow this example the Gospel lays out for us and show love and gratitude to those who demonstrate love to us. And there is a perfect opportunity for you to do exactly that!
On Sunday, February 12 at 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Shepherd’s Grove along with Love Irvine will be hosting “Letters of Love.” This will be a time where we will be writing notes of encouragement to the Irvine Police Department to thank them for their service and the love they display to us and our community. There are SO many amazing benefits in taking part in this event. Here are just a few of them:
- You can give back to the community without a huge investment of time – this is a simple and easy way to do so and it will have a HUGE impact!
- You can become a conduit of God’s love simply by penning a note!
- Your words truly have the power to make a huge difference in the life and heart of another person.
You can stop by the tables on the courtyard and write a quick note, either before or after service. Remember, this is just a small way that you can express your love to somebody and it will have a big impact! We encourage you to join us as we come together to pay God’s love forward!
