Doing good and leading others towards love is a part of our call as Christian believers (Hebrews 10:24). Our direct actions can make a huge impact on the world. When we commit to serving, we can lead people towards Christ, change a community, as well as inspire and encourage others to do the same.

People like Martin Luther King, Jr., Mother Teresa, and the eleven disciples were all people with a common focus and a common goal who impacted our world through serving others. Each example used here didn’t just do so alone but did it in community.

Imagine the difference we can make when we are salt and light in the world. Imagine the difference we can make when we volunteer on our church teams. Think of the first person coming on to our campus who needs to feel loved or the longtime attender who is going through a difficult time; it is up to us to encourage and help change the worlds of those around us.

The Bible says that we are to devote ourselves to good deeds and that they are profitable and excellent for everyone. Sometimes good deeds aren’t so clear to us, so what does it mean to engage in “good deeds” (Titus 3:8)? I cannot answer what the Lord may be saying to you and your family, however, I can provide some solutions that we have here at Shepherd’s Grove.

We want to create a place that you feel safe and comfortable to serve, to keep the common goal, and change the world of those around you. When we demonstrate God’s goodness, it becomes contagious and people will desire to do the same.

So, I challenge you to get involved with one of our service teams. Volunteer for the greeters, ushers, coffee, or set-up team. And if it’s not here, do it somewhere. Begin to serve others and share the love of Christ. Imagine the volunteer difference; imagine the impact we can have on our church community when we commit to the power of volunteering.
