Anticipating Easter

It’s hard to believe it, but Easter is only six weeks away! That means that our biggest weekend of the year is right around the corner. As you know, there are many people who are open to visiting church during this season who otherwise wouldn’t come through our doors, so we have the awesome privilege of reaching out to our friends, neighbors, loved ones, and community to invite them to worship with us and hear just how much Jesus loves them.

But what about us? As we enter the season of Lent, what can we do to prepare our hearts for the climax of Easter? Though it goes against the hurried and frantic pace of our culture, I suggest that we put intentional effort into quieting our hearts, finding a few moments every day to be still, and celebrating the resurrection power of Christ in our lives. In the midst of ongoing struggles or the things we are ashamed of, may we find comfort in the fact that everything has been redeemed through the blood of Jesus — nothing is out of the reach of His love! The miracle of this season is something we can continually celebrate. Between now and Holy week, think of each day as an opportunity to draw near to God and seek His will for your life.

Also, I encourage you to be praying for our upcoming Easter services, considering who you can invite, and thinking about how and where God might be calling you to serve. Our faithful Father has done a wonderful new thing this year and there is much to celebrate!

We are so thankful for you and your continued presence of support at Shepherd’s Grove Presbyterian Church. Today and every day, remember that God loves you and so do we!
